How Thinkwell is Changing the Face of Interactive Education
Guest post by April Stockwell, Thinkwell.com
People often ask me, “What’s so special about Thinkwell?” For me, the key has been the incredible professors Thinkwell has gathered. Looking at all their bios is a bit overwhelming. I mean, Edward Burger alone is this amazing math whiz whose passion for math and teaching comes across in his lectures. I’ve never been a fan of math, but after watching many of his lectures, I actually began enjoying the logic behind solving equations. I could sit here and list all of his awards and honors, but let’s put it this way: Professor Burger is at the top of his field and it shows. And that’s just one of our amazing professors! I could go on and on about our professors, but you would have to see for yourself the amount of care that goes into selecting the people who teach our courses.
While I consider our instructors one of the best aspects of Thinkwell, it’s hard to not also appreciate the organization and presentation of the curriculum, because it’s focused on ensuring students get the most out of our courses. Many folks may have seen our free videos on YouTube or on our blog. However, these are just a small part of our courses. When you actually log into your course online, you get a full dashboard that displays images of what is being discussed and definitions you may need to know to understand the course. There are interactivities to reinforce learning, notes to help you review, exercises, quizzes and tests. Even better, our online courses include automatic grading, so you can focus on learning instead of squinting at answer keys with a red pen in your hand. While all of our courses are available on CDs and with textbooks, you don’t even need them. Everything is online, so no matter where you are, if you have access to a computer and the Internet, you can attend class.
Surprisingly, a wide variety of folks use our online curriculum. Whether it’s folks who just want to refresh their skills, students who need a tutor to help get through that tough class, or even schools wanting to try a different approach to instruction, Thinkwell is there! We are proud that our videos are often recognized in classrooms. We even have many students who use our Advanced Placement courses to prepare for the AP tests.
Intriguing, right? Well, if you really are interested, Thinkwell’s courses range from middle school all the way up to college level. We focus on math as well as social and natural sciences—what I like to call the tough stuff. A big plus is that we also offer a two week free trial of all our courses. Check them out and see if you don’t agree that Thinkwell is truly special.
